Music Suggestions
-
For the casual fan, there is the CD, "The Best of Lesley
Gore -- Sunshine Lollipops & Rainbows" (Rhino R2 75325). This contains
crisp remastered recordings of Lesley's biggest songs. Or, there's "The
Golden Hits of Lesley Gore" (Mercury 810 370-2 M-1). It contains her biggest
singles. These are available at most recorded music stores.
-
For the dedicated fan, there is "It's My Party: The Mercury
Anthology" (Mercury 532-517-2). This is a 2-CD set of 52 songs, including
all of her chart singles and some significant back sides and album tracks.
Everything has been re-mastered, so the quality is quite good. It is available
at many recorded music stores.
-
For the die hard fan, there is a deluxe 5-CD boxed set, called
"Its My Party!" (Bear BCD 15-742-EI). It contains nearly all of Lesley's
Mercury recordings. I have not seen it at any store, but it is available
from some of the on-line music stores, such as
CD Now.

For rare recordings of Lesley (i.e., recordings done in the
70's and 80's), try some of the used record stores on the web. Search for
"vinyl" and "record" to find them. A few of good ones I have found are
Promusicfind.com,
Record
Club of America (search for Gore), Thursday's,
Vinyl
Vendors and California Albums*.
And if you really want to do some searching, here is a list of over
100 record stores to try.
The Care and Preservation of Phonograph
Records (on a Budget). How to keep the music alive on your rare Lesley
Gore albums.
* California Albums is an auction store. The minimum bid is $15. But
I have always bid the minimum, and have always got what I wanted. However,
that could change if everybody tries to get the same Lesley Gore albums.
Lesley is under "60's Female Singers".
