Mercury 45 Label Variations

The following table lists the variations in the design of the labels I have found on Lesley's Mercury releases.
The Black1 & Black2 release were the first that Lesley's recordings appeared on. The promotional copies for those recordings, however, were on a totally different label! They were on a version of the future Red1 label and were issued in various colors.

Promotional copies identical to the Red1 label above, except for the overall color and the "FOR BROADCAST ONLY NOT FOR SALE" printed directly under the Mercury logo at the top. All of the printing is black. There are examples of this labels that contain the phrase "R570" under the 'Not for Sale'. If you know of any that I don't acknowledge, please email me. |
| Red 2 | Red label with black print ("Mercury" in
White). There is no print around the bottom perimeter. |
| PromoWhite2 | Promo copy identical to the Red 2 above except for the color of the label is white and "FOR BROADCAST ONLY NOT FOR SALE" printed directly under the Mercury logo at the top. All of the printing is black. |
| Orange/Tan 1 | An Orange & Tan (gold?) 'swirl' label. There is no print around the bottom perimeter. |

all silver print and the following print around the
bottom perimeter: “MANUFACTURED BY PHONOGRAM, INC., A POLYGRAM COMPANY. DISTRIBUTED BY PHONODISC, INC.” |
